Tangshan ranks Top 100 in Chinese Cities (Prefecture-level Cities) 2018-06-04

Recently, the “2018 Conference of Chinese Cities”, directed by People’s Daily and Chinese Brand Building Promotion Association, was held in Beijing. The top 100 cities with comprehensive scores for Chinese city brands (prefecture-level cities) were released. Among them, the city brand influence index of Tangshan was 380.52, ranking 32nd in the country and first among the 7 cities listed in Hebei Province.

In recent years, Tangshan City has unswervingly implemented new development concepts, and constantly cracked down on the predicament of  “one steel alone” and “smoggy environment”, and has taken effective measures to increase production capacity, adjust structure and transfer methods, and has ushered in joyful changes in the pursuit of high-quality development. In 2017, the GDP exceeded 700 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 710.61 billion yuan with a year-on-year increase of 6.5%, ranking first in Hebei Province for many years.

The whole city of Tangshan is under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era. According to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions to Tangshan on “Three Kinds of Efforts to be Completed” and “Three Kinds of Ways in the Forefront”, and the Provincial Party Committee’s requirement of “Two Kinds of Leading” to Tangshan, Tangshan City adheres to the vision of the world, international perspectives, and strategic thinking. Tangshan advantageously plans its urban development, takes the developmental path of “one port and two cities”, and strives to build a world-class comprehensive trade port, speed up the construction of a modern international seaside city which is open and innovative inclusive, livable and suitable for employment and tour.

The brand of city is a manifestation of the comprehensive strength of a region and a business card for the region. It is reported that the brand cities that were selected for this evaluation are those within the top 100 cities that were calculated according to the National Standards for Brand Evaluation Cities and the official data of national ministries and commissions. The release of the city brand evaluation test is also an exploration for “Tourism City Brand” to be released globally in the next step.
