Land Resources

 According to the third survey of national land, Tangshan City (excluding the "enclave" of Lutai Economic Development Zone and The First branch of the Hangu Management Zone) administers 500,200 hectares of arable land, 152,400 hectares of garden plot, 166,300 hectares of forest, 54,700 hectares of grassland, 44,300 hectares of wetlands, 316,000 hectares of land for towns, industry and mining, 45,800 hectares of transportation land, and 120,600 hectares of water and its conservancy facilities in 2021. With respect to the "enclave", Lutai Development Zone of Economy and Technology has 8,073.3 hectares of arable land, 66.7 hectares of garden plot, 246.7 hectares of forest, 13.3 hectares of grassland, 2,213.3 hectares of land for towns, industry and mining, 326.7 hectares of transportation land, and 2373.3 hectares of water and its conservancy facilities. The First branch of the Hangu Management Zone owns 180 hectares of arable land, 0.7 hectares of garden plot, 26.7 hectares of forest, 46.7 hectares of grassland, 480 hectares of land for towns, industry and mining, 146.7 hectares of transportation land, and 186.7 hectares of water and its conservancy facilities.  

Mineral Resources

 By the end of 2021, 30 kinds of mineral resources had been exploited and utilized in Tangshan, with the main preserved mineral resources as follows: 5.35 billion tons of coal, 6.96 billion tons of iron, 22.7 tons of gold, 290 million tons of limestone for flux, 480 million tons of dolomite for metallurgy, 140 million tons of limestone for alkali production, and 350 million tons of limestone for cement respectively.  

Marine Resources

As of 2021, Tangshan City has a sea area of 4,336 square kilometers and a continental coastline of 251.33 kilometers. There are 4 uninhabited islands in the city with morphological characteristics of lands, all of which are sandy and muddy islands, namely, Puti Island, Moon Island, Xiangyun Island, and Dragon Island.  

Resources of Wetland & Reserves

In 2021Tangshan City has possession of 44,300 hectaresof wetland area, including 226.7 hectares of shrubland swamps, 42,800 hectares of coastal mudflats, and 1,266.7 hectares of inland tidal flats. 25 nature reserves scatter in the city, including 10 scenic spots, 8 forest parks, 3 geo-parks, 2 wetland parks and 2conservation zones.

Resources of Wild Animals & Plants

 17 orders, 52 families and 416 species of terrestrial wild animals have been found as of 2021 in Tangshan City, including 23 species of national first-class protected birds such as red-crowned cranes and oriental white storks, and 64 species of national second-class protected birds. There are 834 species of terrestrial wild plants in 122 families, including 5 species of wild plants in 5 families above national second-class protection.  

 Water Resources

    In 2021, the precipitation in Tangshan City was 1,038 mm, an increase of 61.13% over the average for many years. All counties (cities and districts) under her jurisdiction got a higher precipitation than the average over many years. Among them, the precipitation in Lubei District was 1172.7 mm, the highest in the city, and an increase of 94.18% over the average for many years. Caofeidian District received 830.4 mm of precipitation, the lowest in the city, and an increase of 41.54% over the average. The city's surface water resources were 2.656 billion cubic meters, an increase of 146.39% over the average. Her groundwater resources are 2.274 billion cubic meters, an increase of 67.31% over the average. With the exclusion of the double counting of surface water and groundwater, the city has the total water resources of 4.048 billion cubic meters, an increase of 82.96% over the average. The inbound water volume of the city on an annual basis was 5.277 billion cubic meters, with the outbound water volume of 843 million cubic meters, and the inflow of sea water of 2.368 billion cubic meters.
