The Second Hospital of Tangshan (referred to as the Second Hospital for short), founded in 1957, is a large-scale tertiary hospital (specializing in orthopedics) integrating “medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and rehabilitation”. In 2023, the hospital covered an area of 48,900 m2. It has 7 trauma surgery departments, 5 hand surgery departments, 3 spinal surgery departments, 3 joint disease departments, 2 foot and ankle surgery departments and 2 pediatric orthopedics departments. There are more than 40 clinical departments such as the Department of Geriatric Orthopedics, Department of General Surgery, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Neurology and Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. There are 1,371 professional and technical personnel, including 367 with senior professional titles, 33 master’s supervisors, 288 doctors and postgraduate students. There are 2 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 2 provincial-level managed experts and 4 experts enjoying special allowances from the provincial government. The hospital has 18 operating rooms and 2 emergency operating rooms, as well as large advanced medical equipment such as the American GE optical fiber magnetic resonance imaging, Philips and Toshiba spiral CT. It is a construction unit of the Trauma Treatment Center of the China Trauma Treatment Alliance, and a member unit of the China Trauma Treatment Alliance, the China Doctor-Patient Experience Data Center and the Science Popularization Construction Project of the National Clinical Research Center.
