On March 17th, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Bohai Oilfield announced that the comprehensive adjustment project of Caofeidian 6-4 Oilfield, the first large-scale sandy conglomerate oilfield in Bohai Sea, has been successfully put into production.

The Caofeidian 6-4 Oilfield Comprehensive Adjustment Project is located in the western Bohai Sea, with an average water depth of approximately 20 meters. The main production facility is a newly constructed comprehensive processing platform, and development will be carried out relying on existing facilities. It is planned to put 25 development wells into production.

The Caofeidian 6-4 oilfield, which was completed and put into operation in 2021, boasts an annual crude oil production exceeding 1 million tons, serving as a model for the efficient development of "green oilfields" offshore China.  It is reported that the comprehensive adjustment project further implements the "dual carbon" strategy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 13,000 tons.

The Caofeidian 6-4 Oilfield Comprehensive Adjustment Project is one of the key projects for increasing oil and gas production to 40 million tons in the Bohai Oilfield. Its completion and commissioning signifies that Caofeidian 6-4 Oilfield will become a modern offshore oilfield with an annual oil production capacity of 1.3 million tons, which is of great significance for further enhancing the energy supply capacity for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Bohai Rim region.
