From March 22 to 23, the 2025 Tangshan Culture and Tourism China-US Short Track Speed Skating Invitational kicked off passionately at Tangshan High-Tech Zone Indoor Ice Skating Rink. More than 250 youth athletes from China and the United States engaged in friendly and intense competitions in five age groups (between 8-16 years old) and 22 competition events, culminating in 32 gold medals awarded.
"In this competition, we’re thrilled to exchange skills with American athletes, improve our abilities, and showcase the teamwork and competitive spirit of Team China," said Zhu Yufeng, a 12-year-old Tangshan athlete, with excitement. Wu Dajing, honorary head coach of Tangshan’s Ice Sports Team and Winter Olympics Champion of short track speed skating, noted that the rapid growth of ice and snow sports in Tangshan in recent two years has elevated such events beyond athletic exchanges, fostering cultural integration.
In the future, Tangshan will continue to host more high-profile international competitions, using sports as a bridge to strengthen global connections and cooperation, and propelling the city’s development to new heights.
