From April 11th to April 12th, a group of teachers and students from UK partner schools composed of 21 teachers and students from 7 schools, including Duchess Middle School and John Spence Middle School, visited Tangshan, Hebei Province. The railways were taken as the links and the youth were taken as the bridge in this communication activity, where the group of teachers and students was invited to middle schools, parks, enterprises, etc. in Tangshan to feel “the goodness, beauty and novelty of Tangshan”.

Two hundred years ago, the world’s first railway, the Stockton and Darlington Railway, was built in Britain. Thousands of miles away, Claude William Kinder, a British Engineer, came to Tangshan in 1878. Under his guidance and support, Tangshan-Xugezhuang Railway, China’s first standard gauge railway, and “Dragon Locomotive”, China’s first steam locomotive came out.

After that, the group of teachers and students entered the “Fuxing” train carriage to experience the innovative advantages of China Railway High-Speed (CRH). “They experienced CRH, leaving them a deep impression.” Deng Shaohuai, leader of the group of UK partner schools, said, “Britain is the origin of railways, and China has developed CRH. I am glad to have the opportunity to bring British students here to see China’s achievements in industry, culture and railways. ”

At the Tangshan Robot Exhibition and Experience Center, the group of teachers and students visited the intelligent under-vehicle purging robot, the vehicle-roof unmanned maintenance robot, the flight train inspection robot, the fire fighting robot, etc., and learned about the innovation and development achievements of many subdivisions of Tangshan robot industry. In addition, the group came to Hebei Fengrun Chezhoushan High School, Tangshan Earthquake Ruins Memorial Park, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Robotics Innovation Center and other places to carry out communications and experiences.
